Colby Community College will host a presentation titled "Ruralpreneurs: Tumbleweeds and Talents in Rural Communities" at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, in the Lon R. Frahm Agricultural Center. The Zoom videoconference talk is open to members of the community.
The speaker is Ron Wilson, Director of the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development at Kansas State University. He highlights examples of rural Kansas entrepreneurs who created jobs and opportunities in places such as Marysville, Garden City, Downs, and Neodesha. The presentation looks at the emerging role of diversity, technology, and telecommunications that have brought significant societal changes and also emphasizes the importance of service and community.
"Ruralpreneurs: Tumbleweeds and Talents in Rural Communities" is part of the Humanities Kansas's Speakers Bureau, featuring humanities-based presentations designed to share stories that inspire, spark conversations that inform, and generate insights that strengthen civic engagement.
